Inside a rough and ruthless newsroom, thousands of stories fight for the spotlight but only a few survive past their 15 minutes of fame. So what makes for a "good" headline? And what makes for a buried byline? Join Megan DeLucenay and Mallory Wilson, two former television news producers as they dig up stories that never got the recognition or justice they deserve. At the same time, the duo will examine major true crime cases and what catapulted them into media sensations.
Guilty. Guilty. Guilty. Guilty. A jury found Richard Allen guilty on all four counts in the Delphi double murder trial. Prosecutors say Allen brutally killed 13-year-old Abigail (Abby) Williams and 14-year-old Liberty (Libby) German on that unseasonably warm February day in 2017. On this episode, Mallory and Megan discuss the ins and outs of the trial with Indianapolis TV reporter Max Lewis covered it for the entire four-weeks. You'll hear new details about the case, the crime scene, excluded evidence, potential theories, and more.

This week's case is the definition of a buried byline. 12-year-old Nicolas Zavala disappeared in August of 2002 while living with his grandmother in Northwest Indiana. Despite being his temporary guardian, the boy's grandmother waited a full week before reporting him missing. Eight months later, Nicolas' remains were discovered on an Illinois farm. Not only is this case still unsolved but it has received little to no media attention. We have OPINIONS!

Between 1982 and 1984, dozens of teenage boys and young men in Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky were brutally assaulted and killed. At least 21 victims died at the hands of Larry Eyler, who was dubbed the Interstate Killer. Buckle up because this is a long one! We're going to talk about news coverage, a potential accomplice, Kathleen Zellner, and the badass woman (plus the police task force) that helped bring down this serial killer.

At this point, we have all seen the massive success of the Eras Tour. But before our beloved blondie could kick off her largest concert venture to date she had to deal with the fallout of Ticketmaster's registration and sale for the event. In 2013, three women were rescued after disappearing a decade earlier. Michelle Knight, Amanda Berry, and Gina DeJesus were held captive inside a Cleveland, Ohio home. The women were tortured, raped, and abused by Ariel Castro. Castro was a long-time bus driver and father in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District.
