Louis Tillett is a "Dark Giant" - according to Rolling Stone UK 2000. Not only is he an imposing figure of a man, albeit quietly spoken, but his music is also dark, and Epic. He has been largely enigmatic until recent years. Now you will find him on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Spotify, iTunes and of course at www.louistillettmusic.com and www.louistillett.com.This podcast is yet another attempt to bring his fans into his personal world after many years in between gigs, where he was seemingly in the wilderness. In 2015 he launched his eleven-piece band "The Art of Darkness" by way of a thank you to his many fans who saved him from being left homeless and worse due to extenuating circumstances...by getting behind him with an overwhelmingly successful crowd funding campaign. Thanks to his thousands of fans coming out of the woodwork, he has gone from strength to strength...which is why he has made a point of sharing more of himself with them. This podcast is the first-hand account of Louis' life as a Musician and Composer, while walking along a very rocky road, on a "Dead End Street in the Lucky Country" that is Australia. However, his life as an Underground Recording Artist has introduced many interesting people and places to his life. This is HIS story. No pitch. No pretense. And some cold, hard truths and dark secrets that will shock many of his fans, and even friends. We begin with 11 low key interviews conducted in 2009, while Louis was living in a hut in the Mountains of the mid-North Coastal hinterlands of Australia. Please excuse the sonic quality and format of these first 11 series of interviews, as they are historic and created for radio - 2BOB Community Radio - back in 2009.
Future Podcasts will be have a higher listening quality and format, to go with the way they will be listened to..on headphones, on the run, and amongst so many other programs.
This Episode focuses of my 2006 Album Soliloquy - a Piano and Vocal Album - supported by the Australia Council for the Arts...which also brought my music to the attention of the National Film and Sound Archives of Australia...who has since been seeking to collect and curate my life's body of work.
I would like to point out that although the performances on this album are all mine, Steve Balbi was instrumental in taking this performance to the next level.

Please excuse the sonic quality of these first 11 serial interviews. There may be delays at the start, but please stick with it. They are very insightful.
They were recorded in 2009 for 2BOB Community Radio Station with Irene Barrett.
Future podcasts will be recorded on different technology and taking to account that these were recorded for radio, where podcasts are often listened to on headphones.
The story behind this album is that I recorded it in Bangkok over 6 months, in a studio where the Engineer did not speak a word of English. I played all the instruments and produced the whole album. One day I hope to re-record it with a full band.

Please excuse the format and sonic quality of these first 11 podcasts. They are just a direct reproduction of a series of interviews in 2009 for Irene Barrett at 2BOB Community Radio.
FUTURE Podcasts will be a completely different thing...with updated technology, purposely set up for Podcasts and for listening to on your headphones or home system, as opposed to listening on a radio.
This Episode refocuses on the purpose of this series...which was to lead the listeners from my earliest releases and musical journeys through to the Retrospective "To Ride A Dead Pony". This album features everything from Wet Taxis, Paris Green, rare Live Radio recordings of The Aspersion Caste and some other Rare recordings.

This is an historical interview from 2009 for a Community Radio show 2BOB, with Irene Barretts. Please excuse any sonic imperfections, including the delays at the start of the podcast. These technicalities will be corrected in the Future Podcasts, which will be produced in very different technologies, on different formats.
In the meantime, please enjoy the Live album, which also formed part of the 2000 ABC TV Documentary "A Night at Sea". These were sold out nights at The Basement in Sydney, following a break of 2 years, since my big band shows with The Aspersion Caste.

Please excuse the sonic quality of this episode...one of 11 interviews for 2BOB Community Radio in 2009, with Irene Barrett. It does help to set the scene. But future podcasts will have a much higher sonic quality for listening to on headphones, for instance.
This Episode is another conversation about my life at the time of this release, and my attitude towards music...living in two worlds...between Australia and Europe.

This is one of the 11 part series...earlier conversations with Irene Barrett for 2BOB Community Radio. It is a relaxed introduction to listeners, walking through my Original Albums - leading up to the launch of my Retrospective. Please EXCUSE the SONIC QUALITY. The Technology in 2009 and the Radio audience did not require the same things we have come to expect nowadays on Podcasts where people often listen, on the run, with headphones on.
Please stay tuned for future podcasts.
This particular Episode focuses on "Learing to Die" which was only released in Europe and was awarded a rarely granted 4 star rating by Musiz Express.

Please excuse the quality of this Episode. These first 11 podcasts are part of a series of interviews with Irene Barrett for 2BOB Community Radio in 2009, leading up to the expected launch of To Ride a Dead Pony, which was launched many years later.
Future podcasts will be of higher listening quality. And will be more of a first hand account, with some guests coming aboard.
In this Episode we discuss Midnight Rain - my second acoustic album, as recorded for Normal Record/Return to Sender, as a limited edition. It received a second release in 1996, which saw it awarded Rolling Stone magazine's "Album of the Year" in Australia.

"A Cast of Aspersions", I talk about my life in general and where I was at with music at this stage, after seemingly having hit the mark with my first album. Again speaking with Irene Barrett from 2BOB.
A couple of songs played from this album among the conversation.

Conversation revolving around the release of the third album "Letters to a Dream", I talk to Irene Barrett about my life in general and where I was at with music at this stage, after some success with the first two albums, and a decision to record an album without the usual suspects. Rather than releasing a blues or jazz or rock album this broke all the rules again, but created many new fans. A couple of songs played from this album among the conversation.
