The infiltration of the Asteri’s crystal palace quickly goes awry when Bryce takes a detour in the archives in search for truth, and Ruhn leaves Hunt to save Agent Daybright from the dungeons. Meanwhile, Tharion escapes the lab in Pangera when he realizes Cormac’s plan to sacrifice himself to kill Pippa Spetsos and thwart the rebel’s and Asteri’s chances of using the mechsuit prototypes. When Ruhn, Bryce, and Hunt are inevitably caught, Lidia Cervos kills the Harpy to save them from her ministrations. Only for them to find that they played right into Rigelus’s hands and land in his trap, one that requires sacrifice and good-byes in order for Bryce to escape with the truth and newfound conviction to raise Hel’s armies and kill the Asteri.
