Job Tales - I interview professionals to help you become who you wish to be

During our lifetime, on average, we spend 90’000 hours, meaning 11'250 days, or 30 years working: that is one third of our life. Some of us have a clear idea of what they want to do, from the very beginning; some take a path and then change, some change all the time, some fall into a job by chance and love it; others hate their job but feel stuck and can’t move. Often dissatisfaction at work causes much pain, sadness and frustration. But have you ever spent enough time to value all your options, before you pick a career? Do you know that there are thousands of possible careers awaiting you out there? That is the goal of my podcast: you will find dozens of jobs as they are told on my mic by people like you and me, from around the world. You will be astonished by the number of jobs you would have never thought existed. I hope this will help you make the right choice in life, I hope it will give you inspiration when you are undecided of your career path, and courage to change if you feel stuck.Enjoy and reach out to me for any comment or proposal.Sincerely,Laura LeonciniJob Tales Podcast

Today I have Danilo Cretegny with me. He is an Energy Consultant, or Energy Specialist. Danilo studied mechanical engineering and over the course of the years he became a specialist in energy efficiency. This is a job that allows him to stay true to his own values and efforts in climate change. Interesting points from his interview: work on your communication skills before you embark on your job, and choose a job that provides sense to your life, follow your values.

Angus Macdonald spent 20 years at Procter & Gamble working in financial analysis and planning. He did his academic training in engineering. And so, 5 years ago, he became a math teacher. Listen to Angus’ Job Tale.

“Hypnosis leverages on the plasticity of the brain”. “The subconscious is a 7-year-old kid”. “Imagination is more powerful than reality”. “If you think about something it becomes real, because the brain doesn’t make the difference between the thought and the reality”. These and more messages emerge in today’s Job Tale dedicated to the profession of the Hypnotist.

There is often a misconception about Hypnosis, and its use as a therapy. We often think of its use as a form of entertainment, when we watch staged hypnosis and the powers of persuasion. Livie Gallone is a hypnotist and she sheds light on her profession and what hypnotism means.

I was watching "Inside The Mind of a Dog" on Netflix, and I saw several dog trainers talk about their amazing job, which consists of training dogs into becoming service dogs for humans with disabilities. I immediately thought: I have to interview them! Canine Companions is the company I reached out to, and they were kind enough to grant me an interview with two of their current apprentice instructors, Sarah Brinck and Anika Schenkel.

Do you want to know what a dog trainer does? Then listen to this episode of Job Tales! Yours, Laura Leoncini.
