Family Church NYC

Family Church is located in Astoria, NYC, and our vision is simple: To build a community of faith in Astoria that is wholeheartedly committed to loving God and loving all people. Historically our church has been a place that Portuguese-speaking people have called their church family. However, today, through our English Ministry and a fresh vision to be a church that reflects the diversity of its community, we are a place for all to grow in the faith. We are glad to be able to offer this podcast so you can keep up with the sermons delivered by our pastoral care team.

Diogo Izidoro continues the “Money Matters” sermon series by looking the story of the Widow’s Olive Oil in 2 kings 4:1-7 and unpack how we as Christians should handle debt.

In the sermon, Willian Goulart asks, ever feel like you’re far from God? Have you ever felt God hasn’t blessed you how you wanted to? It doesn’t matter because God calls us to go on his dance floor and enjoy his presence.

In today’s installment of the “Money Matters” sermon series, Eric Maciel delves into the profound impact of how we handle our finances on our spiritual lives. Using a personal anecdote about home improvement projects, Eric compares the process of stripping paint from a door to the way Jesus’ teachings about money can strip away our superficial values to reveal deeper truths. Citing Matthew 6:19-24, Eric emphasizes that where our treasure lies, there our heart is also. He explains that our treasures, eyes, and obedience reveal our true values and loyalties. Earthly wealth is temporary and deceptive, while heavenly treasures are eternal and fulfilling. Ultimately, Eric challenges listeners to evaluate what lies within their hearts and to prioritize generosity and devotion to God over material wealth.

In this sermon, Eric Maciel dives into the deep biblical truths and patterns behind Jesus' famous words, “the last will be first, and the first will be last.” Join us as we explore the rich biblical context of the firstborn and how God loves to overturn our definitions of success and power.

In this sermon, Pastor Lucas answers the following question: How can we keep the fire of God burning in our lives?

Pastor Lucas shares how Jacob’s experience wrestling with God is shared by all believers. God invites us to wrestle with Him in our day to day knowing that Jesus has already won the greatest wrestling match against sin and death.

The story of Joseph is a beacon of hope for the people of God. Join us as Eric Maciel shares a word on God’s faithfulness on display through Joseph’s life. Even the most difficult experiences of our lives can be transformed by God through his mercy and grace.

Victor Prado digs deep into what the true purpose of a heavenly promise is, and why we need them.

We continue our "Praying the Psalms" sermon series with Diogo reflecting on Psalm 70. This psalm shows how a desperate prayer does not settle for weak answers, passionately pleas to God for help, and enables us to see ourselves and God more clearly.

Pastor Lucas continues our “Praying the Psalms” sermon series with this sermon on Psalm 17. He reminds us that prayer makes way for justice, holiness, and trust in God.
