The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Jacob Bynum Accuracy Podcast Simulcast

For this episode I am on the Rifles Only Podcast with Jacob Bynum and I am simulcasting this discussion.  Jacob always gets a series of questions in regarding precision rifle shooting and today was no exception.  We answer two listeners questions the first, in regards to bedding a rifle, the second about what gear to bring as a new shooter.

The quick take on Bedding, it's great if you have the time and money to get it done, but there are lot of examples were bedding a modern rifle is not needed.

The second question I go into the precision rifle gear a new shooter should buy before their first match. Short answer, very little you should borrow it.  I always recommend hitting 3 matches to experience it before investing in equipment.

Later I address some Facebook drama taking place. This week some micro mind tried to cancel me. That cancellation notice didn't go over too well and I took actions to counter the attack.  So I ended it here on the podcast.

Thanks to everyone for listening, supporting and being a part of the Everyday Sniper Podcast.

Be sure to check out Snipers Hide for all your long range precision rifle information.

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Rifles Only Brawl 2024 with Jacob Bynum

Hey welcome back to the Everyday Sniper Podcast, I was traveling last week, we ventured to south Texas to hit the Rifles Only Brawl.  Nice little drive to Kingsville, we settled in the day before the Match and recorded a podcast with Jacob.

The Brawl is a great straight forward event, no flash, just solid shooting.  It was like old folks home time at Rifles Only, all the old crew was present.

So this podcast episode is a bit different, I recorded about 30 minutes with Jacob at Rifles Only. Then I when I got home we recorded a part two version via phone call.  I put the two episodes together to make one big episode for everyone to listen too.

Despite the weather, the Brawl was a great event, awesome Range Officers moving things along, educated competitors who understand how a rifle match is shot, it was just awesome to witness.

Enjoy this episode, the conversations with Jacob are always great. You will find knowledge bombs are dropped a lot.

Again, thanks for listening, thanks for sharing, thanks for being a part of the everyday sniper podcast.

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Big Jim Fish: $2k Optics Talk

Big Jim Fischer is back on the Everyday Sniper Podcast to talking the Mid Range $2k Optics he has reviewed. Big Jim does some of the most detailed optics reviews on the Internet.  His attention to detail is second to none in this area.

$2000 optics are some of the most common scopes we see in class and on the line at competitions.  This mid range is where the majority of optics fall.  Not quite Tier One based on the price point, but some creep into Tier One with the features.

A few of the optics we are discussing include:

  • Leupold Mk5 HD
  • Sightron S6
  • Bushnell Elite XRS
  • Minox ZP5
  • Zero Compromise Optics 4-20x
  • Zeiss S3

Jim always brings the details and will give you both the Pros and Cons to each scope he is looking at.  Maybe it's Spline Slop he brings up, or High Magnification distortion on the edges.  There is a bunch of points to look at with each scope.

Jim's reviews can be found on the main page of Sniper's Hide.  They are easily seen in the blog section.

Thanks for listening to the Everyday Sniper Podcast.  Thanks for sharing the EDS Podcast, and thanks for being a part of the discussion.

Cheers,

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Safe House Recording Post SHOT

Second time recording in the Safe House. The compressor on my channel is a bit weird, I fixed it after the fact, but overall, it is much better we have a board; I just needed to make a few more tweaks.

Post SHOT discussion with Chris regarding my observations at SHOT SHOW.  I was awed by the lever guns, dug the improvements with the air rifles, and really liked the Daniel Defense H9 pistol.

Then we went into a wind discussion; Chris talked about his wind strategy a bunch, which was a really good discussion.

After I finished, I found the compressor setting to remove it, so the minor fluctuation is not gonna happen after this episode. Every dang board is slightly different, I had to tweak this guy a bit more.

Don't forget our classes, we have classes happening this Spring and Summer, so head over to Sniper's Hide to sign up.

Thanks for listening, thanks for sharing thanks for being a part of the everyday sniper podcast

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Big Jim Fischer Sub $1k Optics Talk

Great Conversation with Lester "Big Jim" Fischer who is responsible for a lot of the Sniper's Hide Optics reviews on the Home page of Sniper's Hide.

More can be found here. Sniper's Hide

Some of the optics Jim and I discuss include

  • Arken
  • Athlon Optics
  • Bushnell
  • Sightron
  • Ritron
  • Meopta
  • Optisan
  • Primary Arms Optics

Jim talks about the differences between Chinese manufacturers in sub $1k optics and those arriving from the Philippines, also which one he feels is better.

Spline Slop, there's a word you learn, what is Spline Slop and does it have a bearing on your adjustments.

Set Screws the bane of our existence. The list goes on and on when we are talking optics with Jim.  It's just knowledge bomb after knowledge bomb here.

Finally, stand by for part 2 when we talk $2k plus scopes. The front page of Sniper's Hide is where you will find Jim's reviews so be sure to check them out today.

Thanks for listening, thanks for sharing, thanks for being a part of the everyday sniper podcast,

Cheers all

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: ThunderBeast New Suppressors with Sam & Kurtis

New Episode, Pre-Shot Show with ThunderBeast Arms. We have Sam & Kurtis here to talk about the new line of Recoil Reducing Suppressors.

We talking the entire line pre Shot Show and you can order the Recoil Reducing line on Tuesday along with any other TBAC Suppressors.

WE STILL START ACCEPTING ORDERS FOR NEW PRODUCTS ON THE FIRST MORNING OF SHOT, Tuesday January 23rd.

ULTRA50

The ULTRA50 is done and officially released. Our goal was to “make a 50 suppressor that can be shot all day recoil-wise, with crummy earplugs.” The result will be shocking to anyone who has shot a lot of 50BMG with a muzzle brake or normal suppressor. The ULTRA50 reduces recoil by 65% compared to a bare muzzle while presenting a peak dBA sound pressure level at the shooter’s ear of approximately 136 dB. For comparison’s sake, the next most well known “braked 50 suppressor” is 20 dB louder at the shooter’s ear. For full details, see the ULTRA50 PRODUCT PAGE

NEW MAGNUS LENGTHS AND “RR” REDUCED RECOIL VERSIONS

The Magnus line has been expanded from its original 9″, .30 cal version to add:

K-length at approx 5.5″
S-length at approx 6.9″

All three lengths are now available for order in .30 cal, .338 cal, and .375 cal.

RR “REDUCED RECOIL” (or “RACE READY”)

All of the above are also now also available with the same RR “Reduced Recoil” brake we have on the ULTRA50. The RR brake on the Magnus-RR models reduces the recoil of 300WM by 60-65%, compared to the normal version which has a reduction of 30% or less. This is the “race” can you’ve been waiting for!

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Frank & Chris Pre-Shot Talk

Hey Everyday Sniper Fans,

Chris and I are in the new Safe House, and we are working on a super cool top-secret project, but in the meantime, we made this place a really neat studio to do podcasts and videos with.

Training Schedule, be sure to stop by Sniper's Hide in the forum and check out our training schedule for 2024.

From our schedule, we answer a fan question about wind, spotting, and some tips and tricks for that endeavor.

Next week roll into a precision rifle philosophy talk, some of our tips and tricks there before we talk about Gravity Ballistics and the Sniper's Hide App.

We currently have two Apps in the App Store, the Sniper's Hide Community App and the Gravity Ballistics.  The Community App has recently been updated to include a new Hide TV.  The new Hide TV includes a video and training element.  We will be hosting Lessons on Sniper's Hide in the App.  Hide TV will become a complete resource for precision rifle video, training and Lives here at Sniper's Hide.  It's super cool, super robust I just have to relearn it.

Exciting times with Chris, Sniper's Hide, Riflekraft, etc.  We look forward to serving the community and taking this beyond the internet.

Cheers,

Lowlight

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Jacob from Rifles Only - .22 Considerations

Hey Everyday Sniper Fans,

Another great episode here with Jacob Bynum of Rifles Only Fame.  He had a write in question for both of us coming off the heels of one gun only discussion.  So in this question the listener asks, if you could only get 1 .22 who's would it be, or what would it be, sort of talking Vudoo vs Ruger 10/22.

We give it a good breakdown and look at it from a few different angles.  Which would we choose and why in this context is a tricky question, so we dance around for an answer for at least 20 minutes.

Don't mind the Bigfoot - Alien talk in the beginning it goes quick.

Lastly we bring up Gravity Ballistics and the new Gravity Ballistics App which is available in your App Store or Play Stores

When you are in your App Store, don't forget the Sniper's Hide App too... it makes using the site and forum so much better.

If you are going online Rifles Only has Brawl Tickets there as well. They have other cool things too like their Rifles Only branded nylon, the suppressor covers, slings, etc.

Again a huge Trump sized thank you to Jacob from Rifles Only and our mini Tribute to Jacob Gotterfredson, he rates it.

Thanks for listening, thanks for sharing, thanks for being a part of the Everyday Sniper Podcast.

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Brandon Maddox of Silencer Central

Welcome to the Everyday Sniper Podcast, today we have a great episode with Brandon Maddox of Silencer Central.  I am giant suppressor fan and advocate, I think Suppressors are Civilized and all shooters should partake in their use and enjoyment.

Brandon has dropped into the Everyday Sniper Podcast to discuss,

  • Owning a Silencer
  • The Politics of the Process
  • The Silencer Central Banish Line
  • 42 States include a Silencer Central Dealer
  • Mechanics of a Can, threading, baffles, etc.
  • Future of Suppression
  • 3D Printed Suppressors

Really great conversation with Brandon, his knowledge and advocacy is second to none in this space.  It was great learning about the company, how they strive to education the consumer and the work they are doing with our government to make suppressor ownership easier.

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Jacob @ Rifles Only Lessons Learned

Popped on the podcast with Jacob Bynum of Rifles Only fame. He ran into a Believe the Bullet situation where the student had their face in the phone ignoring the hard data right in front of them.   It's important to go Tom Cruise in the Last Samurai, No Mind.  People Mind the crowd, mind the situation, mind the results, no mind, see and adjust.

The Vortex Rifle mounted laser range finder is everywhere right now.  Learning how to manage and use lasers that are mounted on the rifle is an important skill. Just as important as learning how to use a hand held rangefinder where people push too hard, cut off your head in the photo.  Managing devices, ballistics calculators, lasers, data, etc is key.

The Rifles Only Mile High Shooting Brawl in February usually kicks off the season. Be sure to head over to Rifles Only to sign up, their prize tables to second to none.

Whenever Jacob and I visit there is a ton of nuggets hidden throughout the conversation, so don't miss a minute.

Thanks for sharing, thanks for listening and thanks for being a part of the Everyday Sniper Podcast.
