In this episode, Pratik and Mukunda sit down for a candid conversation about the pervasive influence of societal pressures in Nepal, examining its impact on personal choices, career trajectories, and the pursuit of a fulfilling life.

Episode 4 - Nepal Basne Ra?

Choices. Whether to stay in Nepal or not.

These choices and the contemplations around these choices are not new to common Nepalis, regardless of whether these choices are available and accessible to them, and whether the contemplations are around leaving the country for labor, for education, or for good.

In this episode, Mukunda and Pratik discuss the realities for Nepalis to continue to stay in Nepal, and/or for non-resident Nepalis to return to Nepal . Hope you enjoy it!

Episode 1 - Sanchai

The literal translation of ‘Sanchai?’ in Nepali is ‘Are you Ok’? ‘Sanchai?’ is used in Nepali as a simple conversation starter and response to this question is often the same word without question mark. This response is as thoughtless as ‘good’ or ‘fine’ when asked ‘How are you?’ in English. So, what is the point in talking about something so basic? Our point is this casual greeting can potentially lead into some deep and vulnerable conversations.

In this episode, Pratik and Mukunda dive deep into different dimensions of this term and also share their experiences associated with it. Hope you enjoy it!

No one: “What happens before the first episode?” Pratik and Mukunda: “A non-episode episode” This episode covers everything and nothing at the same time. Here, we almost think out loud, talking about who we are, why this podcast, who should listen to us etc, while setting the scene for more honest revelations in future episodes.
