Treasures in Heaven

Treasures in Heaven is a podcast for young Catholics where Victoria from ConsumerCatholics.com talks with guests about money, travel, and more in a fun, unfiltered way. This is the place for Catholics who ask, “Does anyone else think about these things?” Treasures in Heaven is inspired by the words from Matthew 6:19-21: "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and decay destroy, and thieves break in and steal. But store up treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor decay destroys, nor thieves break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be."

Victoria is back with a quick message of hope because no matter who wins the election...two things are true. Listen to find out!

As I always say, "Instead of following me on Instagram, since I don't have an Instagram, go follow Jesus!"

In my first edition of "Fiction Fridays", I chat with Catholic children's author Maria Riley. She has an amazing, inspiring story of motherhood that includes pregnancy, birth, loss, and adoption. Plus, it inspired her to write a book series called "Adventures with the Saints."

    • Synopsis:

Joshua is a seven-year-old foster child who moves in with the Martin family. They seem really nice, but Joshua isn’t sure if his new parents can love him as much as a biological child. With his new brother and sister, Luke and Becca, Joshua goes on a special journey and meet Saint Joseph at the time of Jesus’ birth.

Can Saint Joseph teach Joshua, Luke, and Becca a lesson about love and adoption?

Will Joshua ever fit in with his new family?

In this episode, I get real about how hard it's been to find a full-time job (and just get interviews in general). If God allows it, then God can redeem it.

Why are people obsessed with the royal family? (Hint: It has to do with Jesus!)

Today I'm talking about the final novel in my trilogy, The Hope We Vow. It's about a young-ish woman (she's 35) named Sadie, who's trying to figure out the vocation God is calling her to. Her story spans continents, convents, and a couple of male suitors. I hope that other women who are discerning their vocation will find comfort and encouragement in Sadie's journey.

**SPOILERS** This episode contains spoiler for my first novel, The Love We Vow. I'm going to discuss the second book in the trilogy, The Vows We Keep. In doing so, it will spoil the end of The Love We Vow. Happy reading!

Today I'm talking about my first novel, The Love We Vow, which I self-published in March. What's it about? (A young woman goes to confession and realizes the priest is her ex-boyfriend...dun, dun, dun!) And why did I write it? I'm going to answer those questions today. It's available in ebook and paperback format. I hope these books accompany you in whatever season of suffering you're in and tht they entertain you along the way.

Fellow Catholic author Andrea Bear joins me today to talk about how the death of her mother eventually led her to writing her first novel, Grieving Daughter's Club. We talk about:

  • how the death of her mother affected her
  • what support looked like during the grieving process
  • how she actually wrote a novel with no formal writing training
  • how she found a publisher for her book after getting rejected originally
  • abandoning our timelines to God's timeline
  • plus, the super cool thing that Deacon Harold Burke does when writing his books
  • Andrea's first CatholicMom.com article she wrote

Read Andrea's novel, Grieving Daughters' Club.
