The Princess Quest - Ep. 9

Princess Paua has one chance, and exactly ONE Ogre Slayer arrow left, to set all the wrongs of history right; to sort out the tangled knot of what’s legend, what’s history, whose fear determined which was which, where wishful thinking is a trap and the substance of reality a magic wand in-hand; to put all that she’s learned together into a cohesive lesson that will impact not only her own life, but every single life within and beyond the Kingdom in an irrevocable way. Can she do it? If she can, WILL she?<br /><br />That’s where you are now, Hunny, on the front lines of an “us” versus “them” mentality, caught in between two enormous and clashing forces, in what feels like an impossible situation. But you’re sure of two things that quell you on this quest fit for a Princess: you ALWAYS have everything you need, and you can do ANYTHING you set your heart to—especially with Princess Paua by your side and Mrs. Honeybee in your heart. The only way out is through, so you and Princess Paua will need to get through to King Ronzio…and quickly if there is any hopeful way out of this. Last time in our fairy tale—with the help of the magic that YOU contain—you, Princess Paua, and Princess Pia achieved the impossible and changed the hearts of each and every raging Ogre in the entire Ogre army! It was like…well…a fairy tale, complete with shimmering fairies gathered merrily around Princess Petra as their new maître d’; this quest was well on its way toward a hard-earned happily ever after, wrapped up in sparkling bow.  All would have been well had it not been for onnnnne little detail. One iridescent detail that came flying back with its horn, its long flowing mane, and its brilliant white fur, but…without…any of its the three messengers that Paua sent at the reigns, carrying a very important message.<br /><br />When the unicorn came back flying solo, without the messengers it was sent with, Princess Paua tried to stay positive and rest assured that the urgent message she sent for her Father the King to stand down, to not raise his army, and to trust her to handle this complex situation at hand was received; she tried to save all of her “what-ifs” from flurrying like an avalanche in a snow storm because…what if the what-ifs never come to be? Like Mrs. Honeybee always says: it’s better to focus on what IS rather than what IF. That shift puts us squarely in our most powerful position…PAUA-full, hehe…of problem-solving; why worry about “what if” until you can actually DO something—however big or small that something is—about what IS, when it actually comes about? Well…this time…all of Paua’s “what-ifs” became her “what-ises”...rather quickly and in full force. Her “what-ifs” charged by the hundreds of thousands…to the bugle call of top generals, dressed in full military regalia, when all the King’s men marched in lock-step, straight toward the UNsuspecting, UNassuming, UNthreatening Ogre army—opposite them, but NOT opposing them, by any stretch of the imagination…and imagination is the only opponent in this battle.<br /><br />The steely soldiers, hardened of heart, grate against the jolly Ogres, softened in spirit, who continue to dance in the rain to the rhythmic beat of the war drums; they do not recognize the threat in its sound, only the timbre and depth of its feel. Princess Paua can fix this once and for all, but she’s going to need your help and your magic, Hunny! Last time in our fairy tale, you, Princess Paua, and Princess Pia stood face-to-face with the full creaturely reality of the Ogres, to see their soft, tender side as well as their ferocious, enraged side…for exactly what they are: complicated parts of a whole being that’s in desperate need of compassion, understanding, and most of all, belonging.<br /><br />Such a legendary vantage point sparked much transformation in each of you—including Ember, who, as a dragon, single-wingedly convinced both King Ronzio and Princess Petra that they needed to change their understanding of what’s possible. But no one was more transformed than Princess Paua, who—after running the entire way back from the wilderness to the kingdom, with nothing but her heart guiding the way—kicked off her one black boot for good, before it could trip her up again. With that, she kicked off a cascading chain reaction that set the gears of living legend in motion, ready to repeat age-old history in the service of fear, under the guise as service to the Kingdom.<br /><br /> Though invisible to most, you saw Paua’s deeply internal transformation and were by her side when she realized the heavy weight and consequence of fear and panic; a weight that threw off the balance that Princesses like you, Paua, Pia, and Petra are adept at creating—each in your own way, in your own realm. History is trying to repeat itself, Hunny, and that’s where you are now: standing beside Princess Paua…on the brink. <br /><br /> Last time in our fairy tale, you and Princess Paua found your way through the wide-open wilderness, back to Princess Pia, sleeping off the night’s adventure at her same bivouac. You didn’t know what to expect when you found her again, but you certainly were not expecting her to be consumed with wordless worry that she desperately tried to bury further and further; banishing it without proper consideration of what her unruly emotions may be trying to tell her.<br /><br /> Slowly but surely—after Princess Paua pleads THREE times for Mrs. Honeybee to magically appear and help her—you, Paua, Pia, and Mrs. Honeybee unravel the knotted mystery of how the Fairies, the Ogres, and the ancient artifacts you found in the charred forest intertwine with the Kingdom of Ronzio legend. But more questions still swirl. What could cause the Fairies to take refuge in the wilderness for soooo long...and soooo far away from the Kingdom? After much uncharacteristic denial, Princess Pia reluctantly admits that all the tell-tale signs of an Ogre invasion are upon us: the forest is going up in flames, the Gnomes have already ran for their lives, and it’s getting more and more difficult to keep the Fairies from fleeing.<br /><br /> What are they really fleeing from? That’s where you are now, Hunny, making your way back to the Kingdom of Ronzio Castle, step by step: over shimmering puddles of fairyberry juice alongside Princess Paua; doing your best to follow behind Princess Pia…without getting lost in the meandering darkness…again. <br /><br />Last time in our fairy tale, you got to know your new friend Princess Pia, and her wild ways, a bit more. Though she claims to be sole Princess of the forest and all the fairies it contains, she doesn’t seem to have much sway over the same fairies that she calls her own. That was made abundantly clear, and for Pia—annoyingly clear—when the fairies interrupted her attempts to control them, buzzing about her ears and directly undermining the authoritative persona she was wearing like a mask.<br /><br />Mrs. Honeybee’s gentle ways seem to garner more command of the mischievous fairies with none of the bravado that Pia forces onto them, and that leaves you wondering what makes these fairies tick, what role Mrs. Honeybee has in this quest—since she always seems to<br />go missing or…reappearing out of nowhere—and what all goes on out here in the great beyond; beyond the confines of the Kingdom that felt so expansive not hours ago.<br /><br />You’ve gotten a good glimpse of the forest, seen through its cover of darkness, and peered into the inner-workings of the wild, but you sense that there is much more to see. And that…there’s something….you’re not seeing…despite your best attempts at vigilance. Princess Paua has lost interest in conquering the forest and has set her sights, and her heart, on reconnecting with Princess Pia. And, more importantly, Hunny, can you trust her?<br /><br />Last time in our fairy tale, you were whisked away to Princess Paua’s workshop in a tree to test her latest creation: the Ogre Slayer arrow! No sooner was it finished, than you two were up in the highest turret of the Castle, sipping tea and taking aim out the window at a far-away wooden Ogre-targets set up in the wilderness.<br /><br />Though you planned to launch your matching arrows together, on the count of three, only you made the bullseye; Princess Paua’s tried-and-true bow snapped and with it months of hard work fell to the floor in pieces. That didn’t stop her from excitedly taking to the forest to track your target down for diagnostics—Paua is serious about making her arrows, and her skills, ever-sharper. Against Princess Petra’s repeated pleas for you not to, you and Paua disappeared into the darkness of the forest in search of your targets, but what you found…was more than either of you could have ever guessed.<br /><br />After a somewhat curious meeting with Mrs. Honeybee in the woods, you were led to a secret fairyberry grove that is home to none other than…actual, real-life, twinkling Fairies!
